The WAP XL is a longe range model with a modified form factor and amplified transmit power specifically designed to provide 11Mb communications at distances of 7 miles (11.2 km) or more, and lower speed communications at even greater distances.
The WAP XL has two 200mW wireless NICs. Each of the wireless NICs is attached to a dedicated RF amplifier. The amplifier boosts each wireless NIC's transmit power to 1W. The WAP XL has three external terminals: one for the antenna and two for the power source(s).
Available in 12V DC and 110V AC versions.
The WAP XL's antenna and batteries are not housed within its case; they are attached utilizing the external terminals.
